We have a cover and it’s awesome!
Hi guys and let me officially welcome you to Outsider Publishing Company. We started out as a brother and sister that had a dream of writing books and comics and 30 years or so later here we are, finally making our dreams come true. It not the route we thought it would be. We thought we would be writing comics first and books second, but it looks like we are doing it in reverse. We have our first Anthology coming out later this year (release date will be announce soonish) but the point of this point is share that we have a cover! I kind of want to walk you through the process of this cover.
First off this is a holiday horror book and we knew we didn’t want the creepy Santa. We wanted to encompass more. There is so many ideas that can come with the horror of the holidays. Imagine an evil elf on the shelf, a mad reindeer, a killing gingerbread man. And with 16 different stories we wanted to make sure that the image would cover that. So, I reached out to Designjai (who does some wonderful work). And gave her this idea.
“We are thinking of a room that is deck out in Christmas decor with a man holding a bloody candy cane but all you see is the hand a candy cane not a body. Or something like a yard decor that is a large candy cane covered in blood with bloody footsteps leading to the house.” As you can see it was a little vague, but she took the idea and ran with it.
This was the first image that she sent.
That cover alone is wonderful, but we felt like it was lacking a little holiday cheer. So we asked for a little bit more color to the title. (oh and the tagline changed, this was the fill in until we came up with the perfect one).
I know that it doesn’t seem like a lot just changing the Christmas to red white and green, but it really gives it the pop of Christmas cheer that it was lacking. It bring the Christmas Horror to life.
I can’t wait for you all to read these Twisted Tales Of Holiday Terror. Next week we will be annoying our first writer in the anthology and each week hopefully after that.
