Got something bold, brilliant, and impossible to ignore? We want to see it.

At Outsider Publishing, we’re not hunting for perfection. We’re looking for passion. Grit. Stories with something to say. There’s no one-size-fits-all checklist for the kind of manuscripts we accept—we’re open to novels, short story collections, genre mashups, memoirs, creative nonfiction, bilingual oral histories, and anything else that defies convention and demands to be heard.

We recommend browsing our catalog and mission to see if your voice aligns with ours.

Spoiler: if your work challenges norms, centers underrepresented perspectives, and makes room for messy, raw, beautiful truths—you’re probably in the right place.

What We Stand For

Outsider Publishing exists for the voices that the literary canon has tried to erase. We’re feminist, intersectional, unapologetically queer, and radically inclusive. We believe storytelling is resistance. Stories connect us, confront us, and create change. Through publishing work that holds space for trauma, identity, joy, and justice, we’re building a more equitable and empathetic world—one page at a time.

Before You Submit

We don’t waste your time, and we ask for the same. Please do not submit the following:

  • Incomplete manuscripts or book proposals
  • Anything containing AI-generated text
  • Translations without clear permissions from the original author (unless public domain)
  • Anything that goes against our company beliefs.

To have your manuscript considered, complete the submission form below.

Can’t use the form due to incarceration or accessibility needs? Email us at [email protected].

We accept simultaneous submissions. If you need to withdraw a piece, email [email protected]  with the subject line:

[Author Name, Manuscript Title: Withdrawn]

Manuscript Formatting Guidelines:

  • Double spaced
  • 12 pt, legible font
  • Include page numbers
  • Header with your name and manuscript title

Heads-up: We suggest drafting your answers in a separate document to stay within word limits and keep a copy for yourself.
