Nate Walton
Nate Walton
Nate Walton, despite the rumors is not a thousand monkeys at a thousand typewriters but instead one 44 year old pop culture nerd. Growing up with the works of King, Claremont, Marz, Barker, John Ostrander and the films of Craven and Lynch he is probably writing something right now, that or debating the latest DC reboot online. Currently resides with his wife Jonna and daughter Hayley in Amish Country
My background
Im Nate Walton, I grew up in AZ and lived there until my teens. I spent the next ten years going back and forth between Arizona and South Carolina. In my late twenties I met a girl from PA and ended up there. After her new guy nearly beat me to death one of her ex best friends and I began a relationship and now I live with her, Jonna, my wife, our daughter Haybay and our cat Whiskers Gizmo Tiger Shithead the Cat.
My writing roots
Ive been a creator my entire life, when I was a kid playing with GI Joes id create unique stories and fight scenes, I had a great imagination as a kid(read:I lied a lot and in strange ways). I had no real outlet of a creative nature for these until I discovered comics in the early 90s(Impact Comics Comet and Punisher War Zone) and began a lifelong love of the genre and how stories were told in it. I began writing comic stories then and have never stopped. I was never able to “make it” as life took me another way, but Ive now been pointed back the direction of writer I was always on. I dont truly see myself as a writer. Im just a chronicler. All Im doing is writing what happened down. Now mind you most all these things only happened in my imagination so obviously I have some control over it, but I try to take a hands off approach and let the characters show me “what actually happens.”
My style
Im heavily influenced by the films of Kevin Smith, Taratino and Kurosawa. I owe just as much to the comics of Lobdell, Nicieza, Ostrander and Marz. I make lots of referencesto pop culture, monkeys and turtles.
