A Blog About Family Holiday Films, or The What I Watch When I’m not Watching Horror During the Holidays Blog

1-Home Alone        The first Home Alone movie is great fun.  Yes it does not hold up as well as you get older but its still entertaining kid fantasy stuff.  The home invasion parts are some of the most truly horrific things ever put on film yet elicit a laugh from younger folks and a knowing cringe from adults.  A well written script, characters you care about, just a admirable  job by Hughes and everyone else involved. 2-Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer/Frosty the Snowman        You must watch these together, yes I insist, if you do not, well you are a monster and deserve the visit from Krampus you will…

    Monthly report for October

So, this is late, I know, I have a million excuses as to why, but none of them are worth being this late. But let me break it down just so you understand where I am in life. For the past year and a half, I been a care giver for my grandmother. She has had some medical issues and in the last year and half she been in and out of the hospital 11 times. There is a lot of caring and travel back and forth from her house to mine and doctors’ appointments.  I am in the process of packing up my life to move across the country.…

A Blog Just Cause I Should Write A Blog Even Though I Do Not Feel Like Writing A Blog

Well this week turned out differently than I expected it to, lol.  I fell behind my schedule, how far?  Well all three scheduled stories for this week are not finished(though two should be by time this goes live).  On top of that one from last week has not had its final pass over yet.  It sucks but as my collection these are for isnt until next year I am ok on that, its not a huge deal but do need to get back on schedule, just for my own mental health sake long term. As for why I fell behind this week, some thing distracted me, some minor vote…

A Blog about my productive week or Did you know Gary is An Asshole?

I finished the first two stories for my collection this week, and a third should be done by time this blog goes live.  I have three more do next week.  It’s been challenging but rewarding to write this collection so far.  I’m not into judging my own work’s quality, as you are always your own worst critic and I have at least some self-awareness so I know I cannot judge it fairly, but (there is always a but) this is arguably the proudest I’ve ever been of work I’ve done. Three Sisters Fight A Ghost is one of the most personal stories I’ve ever constructed.  Now I’m not a sister,…

The Year Santa Stopped Existing Part 2 (of 3)

So what is the point of this incredibly long and horrible tangent about Santa Clause when we were talking about loading a casserole in the trunk? Calm down, we will get there, but before we do let me tell you bought this thing that happened during late 80s and early 90s that no one seems to remember, the great console war. I was there man, you weren’t there, you weren’t there man (and all my apologies and thanks to veterans, my joke there was in bad taste but was meant as a parody of the line delivery from Jacob’s Ladder, a movie I highly recommend that handles the topic with…

A Blog That Isn’t A Blog But An Excuse Why I Didn’t Write A Blog This Week

So life can be a bitch sometimes.  That was the lesson for the week.  I have mental health and physical health issues that both flare up on occasion, sometimes minor sometimes major.  Well this week both decided to flare up in major ways.  My physical health issues are what they are, I have multiple three foot metal rods about eighteen screws and a few spacers in my spine (dumb high school sports injury that I didn’t get fixed got worse and this is the outcome), it hurts twenty four seven but not one tenth of what it did before my surgery.  I have hip issues, directly related to my pelvis…

A Blog Where I Plot out the Perfect October Viewing List

1-Halloween (First two together)-This is the best Halloween night viewing possible.  Lights off waiting between kids to hand out candy screaming to watch out with your friends.  Its the best way to experience it. 2-It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown and Garfield Halloween Adventure-Two of the greatest animated contributions to Halloween lore, should be required viewing if you are a child of the 70s. 3-Earnest Scared Stupid and Hocus Pocus- Great mid ground for the tweens too old for cartoons(those words should never appear together) but too young for hard horror. 4-Fear Street Trilogy- Fun films that just feel like love letters to horror in general. 5-Halloween 3 (and Real…

September 2024 Indie Publisher Publishing Report

Mid-August I was talking with my brother about my publishing journey and how I really wanted to live out our childhood dream of having our own comic book company, well after much talking about that we decided that the first step was to do an indie publishing company instead. Were we crazy? Of course, writers have to be a little crazy don’t we? I mean we let a character in our head tell us whats going to happen next. We give life to words. And I can’t think of anything that is crazier than that. But let me get back on track, what do we know about the publishing world?…

A Blog About 2025 Writing Goals and Schedule

So I was asked what my plans were over the next year or so.  Now normally such a question would get a series of smart ass responses and never would get an answer of any substance cause I’m a clown like that, but in this case it got me thinking,”what am I doing over the next year or so?”  Well after getting over the existential nightmare of the question I quickly opened up my writing desktop on my computer and looked at the literal hundreds of ideas I have on it and decided that “well shit, lets figure this out.”  So I’m using my weekly blog post to let you…
