So ah uhm yeah It’s been awhile huh?
Yeah sorry bout that, life has a funny way of kinda shitting on your plans, regardless of how well you think they are planned out. The last year has been one hell of a ride. It was just over a year as the writing of this blog that we started this company, decided to pursue publishing and I committed to writing as a career. In that time Outsider has published 3, about to be 4 books (3 soon to be 4 stories by me) and I just finished my own collection (as in ready for first set of edits, not as in ready for publication).
But life has severely slowed work down. Last December I lost my grandmother and that took it’s toll on me. She was the person who raised me and the biggest tie to my family, outside of my sisters and brothers. It hurt, way more than I let on at the time and then with other things that spiraled out of that I kinda didn’t write for a few (okay bout 4) months. I finally started to pull myself together in April into May, was ready to hit the ground running and get going again, then another series of events broke me again and that lead to my extended break, well being extended. There was a point or three during this time I kinda thought well that is it, I give up. I had a hard drive die losing a few weeks of work, including three complete stories. Not the end of the world and still have the outlines so can recover ideas, just not that version, it is belong to the ether now. I will not trouble you with the rest of the details as they are either private, not mine to discuss or would be so meaningless without context that you simply wouldn’t care.
So what does that mean going forward? Well first I plan on restarting Legacies in September. I want to continue it until December at which point it will go on hiatus again until March and run through August next year. I had a full year worth of stories planned and would like to publish them all, and since the story jumps around the timeline the publishing order is less significant, just really want to stick to the month idea. So for rest of year (life willing and my mental health allowing it obviously) we will get one Legacies story a week, so 5 in September (Legacies of Salem:Back to School), 4 in October (Legacies of Salem:The Harvest Festival), 5 in November (Legacies of Salem:Cold Turkey) and then finishing with 4 in December (Legacies of Salem:Twelve Days).
I will be doing a regular weekly blog as well. Topics can be whatever the hell is on my mind at the time. It could be taking to you about life like this one, could be a review of a film (I have reviews of Fear Street Series on schedule), might be a ranking of random characters (like my X-Men one here: https://outsiderpublishingcompany.com/a-blog-were-i-rank-a-bunch-of-x-men-characters-and-give-flimsy-justifications-of-my-opinions-or-the-definitive-ultimate-x-men-ranking-blog/) or something more like my holiday watch list (ie:https://outsiderpublishingcompany.com/a-holiday-horror-advent-calendar-or-a-blog-where-i-suggest-a-bunch-of-films/). In other words it can be whatever the hell I decide to write that week.
My weekly rando blog should be up on Thursdays my Legacies of Salem story on Sunday (starting in September). Check back in weekly to see what is going on in my head.
Well Outside of the blog what are you doing? Well person whom I completely imagined just to transition into this section, I’m glad you asked. 3 Sisters Fight A Ghost, my first collection is complete and waiting on edits so next few weeks I can get it fixed up. Cover art is soon to be either created or purchased and looking to have it ready for early October, right in spooky season. We also have a Summer Camp Collection coming out, which includes my story “Summer Camp ’81”. After that we have an anthology that will support Immigration Rights which I am including a story called “Resident Aliens”, it is a story I originally had included in 3 Sisters before we decided to do the Immigration book. It was already a commentary on the subject so I moved it over to it instead. We have a book benefiting LGBTQ+ charity as well. I have not yet decided rather I will write for it or only work on putting it together. And our last anthology of the year will be one based on mythology. Well re-imagining mythology in unique ways. I will be contributing to that one, just not sure on the story yet.
That it? Well person still existing only in my head but that I’m interacting with for effect, no no it isn’t. I will be making my attending Multiverse with Tiffany Vega, my partner in creative things and this company. That is huge for me considering my mental health issues. I want to do more marketing this year, be it in person or the social kind.
